No, this isn't about a new sports franchise sprouting up in Arizona.
A shark and peacock bass have been introduced into the canals of Yuma, Arizona.Both are non-native to the area and the discovery is under investigation.

Although this blog has discussed invasive species before, it's worth remembering they are often introduced illegally usually go to the top of the local food chain.
Peacock bass are beautiful creature but, their presence is disturbing since they definitely fulfill their role as "invasive species." The 32 inch shark, around 81 centimeters, lacks exact identification since it was already dead when found. It's not know if the animal was alive or dead when it was released into the canals.
Although U.S. sharks have been found in inland locations, theory has it that this shark was caught in San Diego or Mexico and transported to Yuma where it was disposed of in the canals.
