Weekend tip--more catfaish bait
November 3rd 2007 02:39
A dynamite catfish bait is simple to make.
Add enough cherry soda (or pop depending of where you're from) to some sugar frosted cornflakes until you get a doughy consistency. Then, you take some dough and start shaping it into a ball. You can even shape a few around hooks to speed things along on your next fishing trip.
The exact size to make depends on the target. Smaller fish will peck way until these things are gone so don't make them too big!
A decent size should dry over night. It's not a good idea to try and force them into drying by placing a batch in the oven or microwave. The outside gets too dry while the inside remains damp resulting in a crumbly mess!
One more thing--as you form the balls, it's advisable to wear rubber gloves because this cereal/sugar combination is one sticky mess until it dries!

Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!

I use a fermented whole chicken, you don't catch many fish-but when you do, its got attitude. Besides, I always drink the soda and snack on the flakes, sigh.
