Quick change spinnerbaits

June 19th 2009 00:29
Most of the spinnerbaits on the market today are the "R-bend" or open bend variety. Some anglers like this feature because it prevents line from wrapping around the lure during casting. On the other hand, there are those who despise the arrangement because trying to use a snap swivel with an R-bend will result in the swivel slipping down the wire.

There are stop gap measures to get around this problem on the market but this solution will save you a couple of dollars.

All you have to do is take a piece of the elastic band that holds the skirt on spinnerbaits and slide it over the bend and close up the gap of the R-band.

It's easy to slide the band on and off as you see fit. Other solutions to the R-bend problem are plastic tubing, pieces of wire or guitar string, or small snap rings.

Until next time--watch your line and watch yourself!

Now that's a solution to consider. I am going for some salmon tomorrow and this tip may be handy, thanks James.

Don't know that it will help the kids this weekend as they ply their luck in the boat for anything willing to bite - but and handy tip for the rest of us . . .

Cheers

No charge! *L* I have to re-evaluate my "good" ideas. I was using a rig about five years ago that I let fizzle because I thought it was too heavy. I saw it the other day for sale on the Web! With that in mind, I'm definitely talking to another lure maker about a biodegradable lure idea I have. It's another dumb idea but it's not as dumb as the rig I passed up and he's got some manufacturing connections so... who knows?

Mr Nice Guy,
I suppose if I shopped around I could find an R-bend but this has served me well for a LONG time![
