Evolution in progress

January 3rd 2012 19:16
blacktip shark and divers

Are we witnessing evolution? Maybe so.

Blacktip sharks and Australian Blacktips are mating and their off springs are showing up in Australia waters. Scientists have not found just one or two examples of this strange mating but 57!

You can look at it this way--it's not uncommon to find something off center in nature now and then, but 57??????

Here's a brief report that's been popping up on the Net today.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!

Salmon shark--Alaska's own

April 8th 2009 01:17
When it comes to sharks, you think of places like, Hawaii, Australia, and, thanks to "Jaws", Martha's Vineyard. However, not all sharks frequent these tourist meccas. If you're thinking this is the case, meet the Salmon Shark named for the Alaskan treat on which they feast.

Although you may think of sharks as warm water creatures, the Salmon Shark is found in icy waters off Western North America, Iceland, Newfoundland, the Bering Sea, and even European locations such as England or Scotland and regions of the North Atlantic as well as corresponding latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere.

More weird fish--the Frill Shark

December 9th 2008 21:28
Here's some info about a weird shark I saw on TV the other night. I don't know why it took so long for me to hear about it because this animal, the Frill Shark, was spotted back in January of 2007.

With the head of a shark and body of a serpent, the nearly five and a half foot (160 cm.) animal was spotted by fishermen off the coast of Japan and transferred to a marine park where it lived for a few hours before expiring.
