Familiarity breeds what?

Even if you fish the same place over and over, it's never the same twice. A different time of day--a wind shift or time of year can combine to make the most familiar of places a new challenge.
If you fish the river, will it be a bass, catfish or walleye?
Maybe you fish the surf. Are you going to pull in a grouper,a shark, or a ray?
Maybe you feel limited by that pond or lake. What varieties of fish are in there? Have you caught them all? If you think you've done it all, how about hauling in a big one on light tackle?
If you know the water, it's a GREAT opportunity to practice techniques that give you trouble.
Try some sight fishing if you start to feel bored in a location. You can watch both the lure and approaching fish and discover EXACTLY how the lure is going to react to every twitch and jerk on the line.

If nothing else, you'll know where the snags are going to be and how to avoid them!
If you're still bored, reel in your line, put down your rod, and take a moment to reflect and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature!

Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
