How to tie a figure eight

Although I'm not on a knot kick anymore, I thought I'd pass along instructions for the Figure Eight Knot because it's so easy to tie.
Often used for loop to loop connections, it is an easy to tie knot and very versatile, being used in fly fishing, sailing, rock climbing, and camping. When tied in ropes it is even easy to inspect with a casual glance and is easy to UNtie

The first step is simply making a loop. If you want to make a loop knot, be sure to begin with the line doubled back against itself.
Next, bring the loop part so it goes underneath the other end of the line.
To complete the knot, bring the end back up through the first loop created.

Since I don't do much fly fishing, I'd be lying if I said the Figure Eight is one of my favorite knots. But, its ease of tying and versatility make it just right for other applications!
Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
