What do you do on the first day of trout season?

March 29--the day you're supposed to go out and catch a trout--at least that's the way it works in some parts of PA. In some areas the season doesn't start until April 12. Another first day of the season has come and gone for me!

I'm not one to go out there the first day. There's just too many yahoos out there who make this their one and only time to go fishing and show up half drunk, cursing and complaining because they're not catching anything and often don't even know how to operate the rod & reel combo they bought the night before at Wal-Mart or any other place where they can get one cheap. And then, there's always some poor schmuck out there trying to spend a little quality time with his kid and they gotta listen to the drunkard yell, curse, and complain!

I look at it this way--there will be other days and other fish!

James, much the same as every other day, until someone tells me it's the first day of the trout season. Then I ..well....eerr, ...that is, well, actually...to be quite honest, ....... still the same as most other days but I am pleased to so not everyone is as fish illiterate as I am.

James, I go to the movies with the missus, get some popcorn, a small soft drink and settle into the comfort of plush seating where we can view select gratuitous violence in relative calm.

I have missed it this year, next year I'll watch out for it and get a 'nice' boyfriend to take me fishing.

I've given up the other sort, they were gross and there's a few of them here, too. Give me a good trout anyday, and better looking too.
