An easy way to get some flies
February 27th 2013 18:05
I thought this was a no-brainer until I amazed a guy with this tip a few days ago.
Since I only fly fish about once a year, I'm not one of those guys who have about as many flies as the hairs on their arm.
If you do much trout fishing and have several spinner-type flies like in the picture, you can break them down and get some decent flies. The nice thing is that you can reassemble the fly and go get those trout again!

If your trout lure has a clasp like the one pictured, simply unlock it and slide off the fly. You'll notice the fly is WAY too light for your usual spinning outfit but will be perfect for fly fishing!
The thing you have to remember is that if a lure isn't that great as a spinner, chances are it's not going to be that great as a fly either. On the other hand, it will increase your arsenal of lures when you head out with your fly rod and a good variety of any kind of lures can make for a good day of fishing!
Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
