The picture at the right has been making its rounds on the Net. Although the picture and event are several months old, new excitement has been brewing thanks to an article in the U.K. Daily Mail.
First of all, the report says the fish weighs 30 pounds. If it was really caught in France as claimed, wouldn't you think there's be a metric equivalent since carp fishing is much more popular in Europe than the U.S.? AND while we're talking 30 pounds, don't you think this fish looks a lot bigger than 30 pounds????
Aside from that, I've taken a LOT of photos and people almost always look at the camera when they know they're being photographed and try to smile or strike a pose they think is "cool." If you were being photographed for a record catch, wouldn't you smile for the camera????
Lastly, forget about the 30 pound argument and just accept the size in the photograph. If a fish is that big, they are darned hard to hold! They're wet, slimy, and wiggle like crazy! This guy doesn't even look like he's breaking a sweat!
Like a lot of fake stories, I don't figure we'll ever hear the end of this story. If it is true, we probably won't hear anything unless it ends up in court.
Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
