Good fishing--Erie, PA
March 20th 2008 00:37
Right now, you're probably saying to yourself, "Where the heck is Erie, PA?'"
Erie is one of the northern cites of Pennsylvania, located on the shores of Lake Erie. Like all of the Great Lakes region, fishing at Erie is great. In fact, in some areas, it's hard to throw out your line and NOT catch a fish!
Erie's location make it unique because this town of less than 105,000 is located just two hour's driving time from three of the U.S.'s larger cities--Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Additionally , there are several smaller communities in the area catering to fishing, hunting, wine tasting, and general tourism.
Although fishing is not Erie's lifeblood, you can go to the area unprepared for fishing but get anything you need at any of the several tackle shops in the area. Shops abound to the point that you can outfit yourself and not max out your credit card.
Although Lake Erie has seen its share of fishing tournaments, no major bass tournaments are scheduled for this year although it is slated for walleye and steelhead competition.
Another feature that makes Erie a prime fishing location is the fact that it's home to Presque Isle State Park.
Presque Isle is a sandy peninsula which extends into the Lake Erie to form Presque Isle Bay and affords even more fishing opportunities.
Whether you fish from a boat, stomp the banks, or visit one of the piers in the park, bass, perch, musky, or pike are just some of the fish you can get in Erie, PA.
