Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Here in America, we’re going to visit relatives, eat turkey, and watch some football. (Yeah, yeah! I know—there’s football, then, there’s FOOTBALL, and there’s rugby—let’s not go there! *L*) I’ll bet you’re wondering how I’m going to tie Thanksgiving and fishing together. Here’s a little story I remember from grade school.
Oddly enough, when the White Man, the Pilgrims, first came to the new world the Native Americans greeted them with open arms. It was later that the Indians wised up and realized that the White Man wanted all the land he could get. Early on, the Indians worked hand-in-hand with the Pilgrims; assisting them in all they would need to live in the New World including the practice of farming.
The Native American had a novel practice, unknown to the Pilgrims. They would include a dead fish with the planting of any seeds; resulting in a natural fertilizer as the crops grew. Sweet potatoes—tobacco--no matter what the plant was, they Pilgrims owed their success to the Indians!
How true is this story? Who knows? Maybe it was just something to fill a second grade reader. At any rate, it’s a nice story.

Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
