Finally, an end to snags

January 18th 2009 01:31
Neversnag
One problem that has plagued anglers since day one has been throwing your line out and getting snagged. This is finally remedied by a product called Neversnag!

The Neversnag™ Guardhook™ takes fishing hooks and couples them with spring guards to create a product so safe you can carry it in your pocket. When you get ready to fish, you remove the guard from the hook point and it stays on the hook to act as a "keeper" so you end up losing fewer fish.

Naturally, Neversnag produces their own lures but if you already have a favorite lure and you're thinking "Ah, crap!" think again because you can purchase QuickChange Double Guardhooks™ which easily slide onto any existing hook mount. Further, if you're into single hook fishing, singles are available in a wide range from size 6 all the way to 5/0.

The virtues of a new product are certainly going to be highlighted on any website but one aspect I like is the safety factor. Granted, the website does mention that you can carry these hooks in your pocket. However, this also means you can sort through your tackle box with your index finger and not worry about hooks gouging your finger!

The down side to all of this is that I've yet to find Neversnags in stores. Right now, the only way to get them is ordering through the website.

It will be interesting to watch what happens with this company because this is similar to making a car that runs on water or finally developing a car that won't rust. Do lure companies truly want us using lures and hooks we can't lose or are they happy to see us lose lures each season and then contribute to their profits when we have to buy new ones?

You can ponder that and check out their website here.

Until next time--watch your line and watch yourself!

I was surfing the web, looking for some info, when I found something else and it sort of took over everything I was thinking about at the time…
