Great product for the deep ones

November 24th 2009 01:46
Since I regularly get emails from Recycled Fish, I found out about this great product just in time for the Holidays...

Ventafish logo
When it's frosty like it is right now in my neck of the woods or if you do much salt water fishing, you know what a hassle it can be when you hook something deep and pull it up only to see the fish's insides hanging out of its mouth because the pressure of its swim bladder is not equal to surface pressures. In effect, the fish has the "bends" much like a diver ascending too quickly!

The first thing many people do when the see a fish's stomach sticking out of it's mouth, is try to put it back in. Semi-savvy anglers know what the problem is but use something like an ice pick, knitting needle, or similar device to "vent" the fish. This is ALL wrong and, too often, leads to the animal's death.

These problems are all gone thanks to a product called Ventafish.

Here's a video from YouTube showing how simple it is to use the wonderful tool.

As I alluded to earlier, too many people try to perform some sort of half-baked surgery that usually guarantees a fish's death. With Ventafish, it's almost impossible to do things wrong.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!

A neat toy from Berkley

November 18th 2009 23:39
There's no denying Berkley's Gulp! is one of the best artificial baits on the market. However, it does have its drawbacks. It's got a pretty bad odor and it dries out.

Good news! You don't have to worry about those problems any more thanks to the Berkley® TEC™ - Gulp! Alive!™ Bait Management System.

Can you say, "FISHOUFLAGE?"

September 27th 2009 17:01
If there's one thing I can appreciate, it's unique wording. I think this product fiils the bill quite nicely.

My buddy Teeg Stauffer over at Recycled Fish put me on to this video from YouTube.

Good buys on reels

August 1st 2009 01:13
Michell 300 spinning reel
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be doing this but, if you're in the market for a used reel, there are a couple Michell 300's over on Ebay for under 5 bucks. I guess that's USD--I didn't look because I'm not really in the market. If you look at these and start comparing, a 300 is NOT the same as the Mitchell 300X.

I would imagine that such a price means these reels need a little work but if you get one and invest a few dollars, you may have something because these old reels are like a tank! I have two of them.

Keep things neat

July 30th 2009 00:12
As I've alluded to before, I'm the king of dis-organization. I picked up a product from Plano the other day that may help me out.

Plano 1040 round organizer
Plano is producing round, six compartment organizers that are great for small hooks, spinners, or other terminal tackle. Fly anglers can also use this product to separate their flies when wading into the middle of a stream.

vitamins

Since there are something like three dozen fish attractants on the market, it's no wonder things are a little bewildering. And then there's that game you play--one is $10.00 but the other is only $7.50--how much is that per ounce? BUT who makes that cheap stuff? Is it any good?

monoMASTER
You've probably been there. You're walking along, getting ready to pick a spot and cast out your line. The next thing you know, you're almost falling down because some thoughtless person left a tangle of fishing line on the ground. It doesn't have to be that way thanks to a new product called the monoMASTER.

Here's a video aimed at fly anglers but the monoMASTER will work no matter what kind of fishing you do.

Staying hydrated

January 25th 2009 03:13
death valley
Although here in Pennsylvania, summer heat is the LAST thing on people's mind, the sun actually does shine in other parts of the world. AND it will shine again here!

A couple of things are important when you're fishing and the sun is beating down. Those important items are sunglasses and drinking water. I've talked about sunglasses before—they're going to keep the glare away and make it easier to see. It's easy to know when you need sunglasses. Usually, if you find yourself squinting, it's time to pull out the shades!

Finally, an end to snags

January 18th 2009 01:31
Neversnag
One problem that has plagued anglers since day one has been throwing your line out and getting snagged. This is finally remedied by a product called Neversnag!

The Neversnag™ Guardhook™ takes fishing hooks and couples them with spring guards to create a product so safe you can carry it in your pocket. When you get ready to fish, you remove the guard from the hook point and it stays on the hook to act as a "keeper" so you end up losing fewer fish.
