How to make a homemade bait bucket

It's really a drag when you start to take a bucket of water to the garden or flower bed only to find that half of it has leaked out through a small hole.
Rather than throw the bucket away, a leaky bucket is just the thing when making a bait bucket.
When you're fishing with minnows or other small bait in a small water craft, it's handy to have a bait bucket that hangs off the edge of the boat and keeps the water fresh. For that matter, I've seen plenty of guys who fish from the shore and tether their bait bucket on a piece of nylon rope.
Although you can use any kind of bucket, I like something small like a child's sand bucket.
Take that old bucket and poke a few holes into the bottom. After that, poke a few more up the sides and you almost have it.
Lastly secure a piece of wire or nylon mesh screen on the top with a large rubber band and you're done!
You can use hooks to hang the bucket off the side of your boat but, I've also seen anglers wade out a few feet and secure bait buckets to their belt loops with a piece of light rope.
