Finding fish when it's hot
June 26th 2010 03:29
When the temperature starts to rise like it has around here, I'm always amazed to see guys out there fishing in the middle of the day using the same tactics they do in the morning or evening.
Some people think you can only fish in the morning or evening. Make no mistake, plenty of fish are caught when the sun is high! All you have to do is alter your approach.
It doesn't matter where you fish or what you're after. This little bit of advice will work anywhere.
Bass, carp, catfish, anything you're after, usually to stay out of shallow water when it's hot. In order to seek cooler water, the fish are going to go deep.
To get deep you need heavier bait, sinkers, or deep diving lures. A quick tip--make sure any lure you use had a long lip.
However, if you do see a fish in the shallows, and you want a challenge, those are the fish you want!

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
