How to fish with a rubber worm
February 26th 2010 01:25
One of the best artificial baits you can use is also the cheapest--a simple rubber worm.
There are umpteen colors on the market and almost as many ways to rig them!
Some anglers use artificial worms at their main lure while others use them as a back-up on a second rod. If I'm using two rods, I always have one rigged with an artificial worm to compliment whatever else I'm throwing whether it's another lure or live bait.
Timing accounts for a lot when using rubber worms. Fish will sometime suck them up and swim away without the hook being lodged in their mouth. An unsuspecting angler jerks the rod in an effort to "set" the hook and ends up jerking the worm out of the fish's mouth.
Here's a pretty good video from YouTube talking about rubber worms. Although the object of their efforts is bass, the instruction
work for most fish you'll run across.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
