How to make an easy ice pack
May 22nd 2011 01:17
With summer creeping upon us in this neck of the woods, it doesn't matter if you fish, picnic, or pull a muscle, keeping things cold is on everybody's mind.
Before you go to the store and shell out a few bucks for an icepack, here's a cheap way to make your own.
All you need are two zip lock bags, water, (naturally), rubbing alcohol, and food coloring.
Fill one bag about half or three quarters of the way full with a mixture about half water and half alcohol. The alcohol lowers the freezing point and makes a colder ice. Next, put a drop or two of food coloring in the water. Food coloring is purely optional but it makes it a LOT easier to detect a leak.
Seal the bag holding the water and put it inside the second bag and seal it also.
After this step, freeze the pack and you're ready to roll.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
