Jeremy Wade is a British writer, biologist, extreme angler, and TV host. His series River Monsters on America's Animal Planet is is what I like call "A fishing program for people who don't fish."
Wade has traveled all over the world during the past two decades to study and/or catch some of the most unusual fish you can imagine. Aside from fishing adventures he has contracted malaria, been arrested as a spy, survived a plane crash, as well as having been threatened at gun point.
His first venture into TV was called Jungle Hooks for Discovery Europe which went on to become one of England's of the most-watched shows when it was released. His American series, River Monsters, has achieved the highest ratings in the history of Animal Planet. Early on, a second season was planned and should begin broadcast in early 2010. Presently, the first season is in reruns and being aired at various times.
If you're looking for angling tip and tricks, River Monsters is NOT the program to watch. I can honestly say that I've watched, maybe, half a dozen programs of the series, and haven't learned a darned thing about angling. However, I recommend it for that same reason. It's never ceases to amaze me how much you can learn from a one hour television program. The thing I like is the fact that you don't realize you're learning anything until the same topic comes up in conversation!
