An Ugly Stick just like the grown ups use
April 2nd 2009 01:46
Young children are a fickle lot with their likes and dislikes changing almost daily as they grow older. If they've outgrown the Barbie or Spiderman fishing rod they loved at Christmas and yearn for something more "grown up", Shakespeare is ready to come to the rescue with their newly introduced Ugly Stick Junior. The Shakespeare Ugly Stick is one of the most popular fishing rods in the world and now kids can have a rod just like Mom and Dad.
The rod itself is 38" long which is comparable to many children's rods on the market today. To get perspective on this, 38" is slightly over a yard and slightly less than a meter.
The one piece rod is available alone or in combination with an easy-to-use spincast reel that comes pre-spooled with with 6 lb. line. Further, the combo is available in three different colors including pink for a feminine accent to angling endeavors!
As children grow and their angling abilities increase, they can apprediate the rod's three line guides in addition to the tip guide which all work to ensure smooth line retrieval.
So, if your child has outgrown the rod you got them just months ago, this may keep peace in the family.
Until next time--watch your line and watch yourself!
