Great lead free jigs
June 13th 2009 00:11
The next time you're in Hawaii, say hello to Keith Okimoto and check out his line of lead free jigs.
Keith and I started corresponding last week and he offered to send me some samples which are out of this world.
Another aspect you don't normally see is the fact that aside from standard production items, custom designs and hook options are available.

First of all, you'll never see workmanship like this in something as common as a jig. Hook sizes are fairly large. So, you're assured of being able to land that whopper. If you like red hooks, they're available and the jigs are super sharp right out of the package!
The thing I like most about these lead free jigs is the size to weight ratio. As it says on the website, standard jigs are available in 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 oz. sizes. However, the actual weight of the jig, since a lead free bismuth-tin alloy is used, is about 80% of this. Personally, I think that is pretty negligible since we're not talking a lot of weight anyway. Unless you'd throw one of these jigs on a scale, you'd hardly know the difference between it and lead jig.
