I know where you're coming from. I don't have to worry about how much time I spend on a lure because I just do it as a hobby and therefore, I don't have to worry about time or how good the paint job looks. If you use balsa and fast dying paints, you could probably make a lure one evening and use it the next afternoon. With some of the harder woods, (anything is harder than balsa!) you have to whittle and sand. I've diddled around and spent a month on one. The winter or rainy days is a good time for that kind of stuff!
