It's really a drag to finally get some time to go fishing only to find that all of your minnows have died on the way to your favorite spot. You may have an aerator but, those squiggly little critters have died anyway because once again you tried to carry more minnows than is recommended for the bucket.
Aside from cutting numbers, you may want to try O-tabs. Otabs release thousands of bubbles of oxygen when dropped into a bait bucket and replenish the oxygen consumed by live bait. About three dozen, one inch minnows require an OTAB about every five to twelve hours. More or fewer needed according to weight, kind of bait and conditions.
Just like medicines, Otabs should be stored in a cool, dry place and should keep an entire season if kept out of humidity. In fact, Otabs can remain effective for around a year if kept properly!
Otabs are a great invention but the one thing they WON'T do is cool your minnow water. Remember, if the water gets over 75 degrees Fahrenheit, you're going to see a lot of belly-up creatures floating on the top of your bucket and no amount of Otabs can prevent it. Otabs can definitely add oxygen to water but they can't cool things down!
