Randy's Dippin' Bait
December 5th 2008 01:29
I thought I was done writing about catfish baits but here's one you can make that won't break the bank.
I ran across this on Associoatedcontent.com and it's a recipe from Orble's Randy Inman.
Randy's been nice enough to let me write on his football site Footballdogz.com. If you're into the NFL, college ball or even a little bit of high school ball, give us a click!
Back to fishing--I'll be honest. It's been on the cold/rainy side around here so, I haven't tried this recipe yet. But, I can guarantee I'll be using it in the spring! The stuff sounds as if it would work.

Here's what Randy had to say----
If you don't know what dipbait is, here is an explanation. It is what it sounds like, it's a sticky bait that you put on a dipworm. The smell attracts the catfish and he hits the dipworm.
Here is what I usually make for my dipbait. Take 5 to 10 bluegills (bream) and or shad and take their guts and put them in. Put in a few pinches of garlic, about a cup of buttermilk and about a cup of flour. Use a blender not the same one you make your food in. Mix it up till it looks like a dough type substance. Put it in a good sized jar and keep in the fridge till needed. If it doesn't get thick enough, keep adding flour.
It's difficult, if not impossible, to read about catfish baits and not run across the phrase, "...the stinkier, the better." I think this will fill all criteria!
Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
BTW--the corny name was my idea. Randy didn't know about this post OR the name!
