Roundup & bass
August 1st 2007 02:11
I thought it was interesting the other day when I heard that something we use every day is killing fish.
The stuff we use on weeds in the cracks of our driveways and such, Roundup, is VERY poisonous to frogs. Bass are pretty big on frogs. Fish biologists say it’s almost like a delicacy to them.
The problem is the fact that run off containing Roundup gets into the water table. Then the Round-Up either kills the frogs outright or makes tadpoles so vulnerable that they live only a short time.
Granted, there are many other foods that bass love to eat. However, this is one of their favorites that is often denied. How much of a problem is this? Well, do you drink coffee? How would you like it if you couldn’t get your coffee in the morning?
Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
