Day 2 of the 2008 Bassmaster Classic
February 24th 2008 01:08
Twenty-five anglers fish tomorrow and twenty-five leave Lake Hartwell, South Carolina saying, "Wait 'til next year."
Alton Jones is leading the field after two days with 36 pounds followed by Classic rookie Charlie Hartley at 34-13. Cliff Pace is behind those two with 33-5 and but Kevin VanDam is a close fourth with 33-1.
After two days of competition, the field of fifty has been trimmed to the top 25 anglers who will compete tomorrow in fishing's premier event. Missing from the Top-25, is defending champion Doyd Duckett who finished back in 33rd spot. "The Duck" put up over 15 pounds of fish today and met his five fish limit but failed to overcome yesterday's poor showing when he boated only two fish.
Lest you think there's partying being done by the happy 25, just remember, when they hit the water tomorrow morning at 7:15 EDT, a half million dollars goes to the winner!
