Surf fishing for sharks

Here's a short documentary I found on YouTube about shark hunting.
This is pretty cool because instead of fishing from a boat, these guys are fishing from the beach and risk their lives with every effort since they have to take the bait to the sharks via surf board!
For all you movie buffs, the truck they use reminds me of the rig used by John Wayne in Hatari.
Although it's not explained, this must be for some type of research because the sharks are tagged and then released.
Lastly, in order to truly appreciate what fish hooks are, I think everyone should take notice of the hook they are using!
