An end to tangled rods
July 5th 2010 05:47
Sometimes you don't think of product until you need them or, in my case, AFTER you need them.
It's a real pain in the neck when you have a bunch of strung rods and go to move them and they're all tangled together. I doesn't matter if you have several rods, a few or even just one rod because if you put it in the back of a pick-up truck or a rod locker with a few rods from your friends, you're inviting trouble because the rod tips or reels get tangled in the line on the other rods and you end up untangling the mess and even, possibly, creating weak spots in your fishing line.
When I was moving my rods the other day I forgot about a product called Stick Jacket.
This is another of those products you'll look at and think, "Why didn't I think of that?"
Unlike a lot of the rod sheaths you find, Stick Jacket is made from a tough polyethylene filament that will stand up to salt water and resists mold and mildew. In short, you can put your rod away at the end of the season, get it out the next and the sheath won't be rotted! Further, construction allows easy hook removal should something poke through. With cloth sheaths, a protruding hooks meant broken threads and a weak place if you didn't have to cut the material.
Stick Jackets are available for either baitcasting rods or spinning rods and work for rods up to 7 1/2 feet.
Here's a look at their website.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
