Fishing success

Who was it that said, "Success is not a destination, it is a journey?" Other than quoting Yodda, I'm not too good when it comes to philosophy.
However, I do know that fishing is a good example of this theory. When we first set out to catch a fish, just about anything is acceptable. Once that fish is caught, perspectives and objectives changes. Suddenly, bigger fish become the objective.
.
We probably ought to make a few quick definitions here. Think of 'objective' as a target. 'Strategy' is what we use to achieve that objective. You can look at the use of strategy as our journey. Success can very well be your objective(in most cases it is, no matter what the activity) but it's harder to define because success is hard to measure since we all bring different skill sets to the same party and use those skills while trying to obtain our goal.
I was fishing the other day and there was another guy at the river. Although we were the only people around, we had buddied up and were not more than ten feet apart.
"We're not catching a darned thing, are we?" he finally said in an exasperated tone.
I answered, "Must be one of those days."
It was true. He had been there an hour and didn't catch anything. I had been there a little longer and only had one nibble before he arrived.
Gazing at the sky, he muttered, "Beautiful day, though." Reeling in, he added, "I think I'm going to call I "quits." I got my 22 dollars worth today."
It costs $22.00 for a state fishing license. By his standards, it was a successful day!

Until next time--watch your line and watch yourself!
