Too warm for trout and salmon?

July 3rd 2010 14:44

No matter what part of the world you live in, you've either fished for trout or salmon or, at least, know someone who does. Unfortunately, numbers of both species have dwindled over the past couple of decades.

Over fishing, loss of habitat, and pollution have all been name as culprits in the reduction but, there is a new reason experts have pointed a finger at--global warming.

Although this problem can be found all over the world, a study in Great Britain shows salmon numbers have fallen 50% while trout have been reduced by over 65% in the years between 1985 and 2004!

So, the next time you're out there and the fishing seems slower than you remember, maybe it's because there was twice as many fish back in the day!

You can check out detail of this report at Science Daily.

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
