Weekend tip--Uni-Knot
December 22nd 2007 02:56
The uni-knot, slip-knot, or what ever you want to call it is a strong, reliable and EASY to tie knot that is good for securing hooks or tying line to your reel. Some people call this a hangman's knot. I'm a BIG fan of the Duke so, trust me, this is a little different from what they used for neck tie parties.
1. To get started, run about 6" (15 cm.) through the eye of the hook or whatever and then fold the line so it lies parallel to the main line and then bring the loose end (tag end) back in a circle toward the whatever.
2. Make 6 turns of the tag end around the doubled line and around the circle you created, finishing up by passing it through the circle.
3. Hold everything tight and pull the tag end until it snugs up the coils.
4. You can leave the loop loose or slide the knot down to snug it against your tackle or reel arbor.
5. The last thing you want to do is trim the tag end.

Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
