Use fishing to beat stress
January 9th 2008 03:10
Are you looking for something that can remove all the hassles from a hard day at work and won’t break the bank? A night out may do the trick but you’ll probably wind up having a terrible hangover and a thinner wallet in the morning. You want something else to fill the bill? Why not try fishing? Aside from having some time to think, you can also catch a few rays and work on your tan.
Fishing is something we can all afford and you may live close to a river, lake or pond so, you’re half way there! It may start simple then, if you want to take fishing seriously, you can expand your equipment and talents. Most anglers start out with panfish or something else on the small side before they graduate to larger species. However, that’s not to say you have to move on! More than a few people relish in the fight some of these midgets can provide! AND they taste mighty good!
You never know what the new activity will bring. Perhaps an excursion with family or friends is on tap. Or, if you’re lucky, you may be invited to go along on a trip on a friend’s boat. If you’re lucky enough to be invited along, make sure you at least offer food and drink for all on board. Being a good guest will definitely increase your chances of being invited back. If nothing else, offer to pay for a tank of gasoline for the boat! With today’s prices, that alone will show you’re thinking.
Going fishing can not only be a therapeutic activity, but is also a way to be attuned with nature. The goal may be fishing but you can do other things with your family and friends while in the midst of nature’s beauty. Beautiful blue skies, breath-taking views and lots of fun while fishing can make you return to the 9 to 5 on Monday with a whole new attitude--re-energized, more focused and a happier!
Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!

Fishing is the way to go isn`t it? although I tend to not be able to put the worms on the hook or take the fish off... I`m a worst nightmare fishing partner!
I love being out on the water so - so peaceful!

My grandad was a fisherman by trade and he was one of the most laid back guys I ever had the pleasure to know. In my childhood, we owned a fishing boat and my dad and I would go fishing. What wonderful memories. Great post!
