How to tie the Wacky Rig
October 16th 2009 01:25
Ya know that old cartoon scene with someone hooking a worm right through the middle and dipping it into the water? Believe it or not, that's the Wacky Rig!
The Wacky Rig is best done with a soft stick bait or Senko type bait. You hook it right in the middle and that's it. Can't find the middle? Bend both ends until they meet and the center bend is it!
The fact that the bait is unweighted helps its action as it falls. Weights made especially for this rig, called nail weights are available but, I don't have any nor do I want them. I think any weight at all inhibits the action. If I do have to add weight to the worm itself, I'll add a straight pin to each end. If weight is necessary, I prefer to add weight to the line--a little ways up from the worm

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
