Weekend tip--look for birds

March 15th 2008 00:53
In this day and age, technology has even crept into fishing. More than one angler uses a fish finder or even an underwater camera.

Before these miracles of science came into being, you could always rely on Mother Nature to tell you where to fish.

If you're at the shore or on a big lake or river, all you have to do is look for diving birds. Chances are, they're going to be feeding on small fish and that can only mean that bigger fish are feeding on them also.

Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!

"To find the fish, you must first search for the birds". Sounds like a Chinese proverb or something!

If I want to catch a fish I look for a sign saying 'Trout Farm - Landing a Fish is Guaranteed!'

Maybe it's finally happening--My fishing idol, Rick Clunn is one of the most Zen guys you can find. He bases fishing on the Indian proverb, "To catch the owl, you must understand the mouse." Owls eat mice so, you can figure it out. At first glance, Rick Clunn may seem like a real hick but, he's one smart cookie and he has a philosophy of fishing AND life of understanding the underlying cause for everything!

I'm always looking for birds, they are quite a lure.

katyzzz,

Or, as it says on the Storm Lure packaging--Always think like a fish--no matter how weird it gets! Even if their lures were no good, I'd have to at least give them a nod for having a slogan like that!
