Thoughts on Yum's Baby Eel
September 16th 2008 00:17
A while back I commented on the Yum Dancin' Eel. All in all, I wasn't that knocked out.
Several people suggested I try the Baby Dancin' Eel. I thought I'd give it a shot before the summer ended and I must say I'm glad I did!
First of all, this lure is only an inch shorter than the Dancin' Eel so, I don't know why Yum decided to call it the Baby Eel. I'd call it the Junior Eel!
At first glance, the newer incarnation of Yum's Dancin' Eel resembles the original. Then you'll notice it's a little shorter and the body is a bit smaller. As with the original Dancin' Eel, its origins lie in the crankbait and it has kept the scent chamber so you can load it with attractant.
I'd say more fish are drawn to the Baby Eel's shorter profile. That being said, I stand by my comment about not being crazy about the tail and how I'd like to change the design a bit. Despite this, I think the Baby Eel is a better fishgetter and comments I've heard bear this out. My only complaint is the same as many other anglers--I wish it came in more colors!

It's almost like the original Dancin' Eel was a trial version of the Baby Eel. If you have to choose between the Baby Dancin' Eel and the original Dancin' Eel, save yourself a buck and get this one and you won't be sorry!
[B]Until next time--watch yourself and watch your line!
