Outlet Bait and Tackle does what they say

U.S. anglers have probably seen ads for Outlet Bait and Tackle and wondered if it's worth the risk. I have to admit I was part of that group although I've been on their mailing list for over a year but, I must say my recent experience was great!

Outlet Bait and Tackle is a mail order company that has a lot of overstocks, discontinued items, and closeouts. Some people may turn up their nose at that but a lure is a lure, and it's not like you're buying last season's fashions.

I have to admit, I'm a little fuzzy on the details but Outlet used to be Overstockbait.com and they still use that name for their website. A while back I got an email explaining the change but had some trouble finding the communication. Looks like I'll have to clean the ol' inbox!

One important aspect of the company is that they have quality, big brand items--we're talking Gary Yamamato soft baits, Luhr Jensen spinners, and Joe Bucher lures to name just a few.

If you know anything about outlets, you know it's not like opening a catalog--you have to take what they have and just because you see it this week is no sign they'll have it next week.

When it comes to the pocketbook, you can always save a buck or two. Personally, I ordered 16 items and it cost me $67 including shipping. As for saving, you're always going to save something. For only one lure or two, it may not be that great or it may even be more than retail after you add the shipping. However, my order included four spinners that regularly retail for over 4 bucks and they were charging only 99 cents each. On top of that I got a Joe Bucher musky lure that usually retails around $21.95 for only $6.99! So, you can see that it really worked for me.

I'm old school so after the sale service is important to me. There was a slight mix-up on my order and I was short one item. I thought, "Oh crap, here we go!" Anyway, I shot off an email that evening and they got back to me they next day. To make a long story short, they came through in less than a week! I forget the exact time frame but I placed the order late Thursday, got my items Monday, they got back to me Tuesday, and I had the balance of my order either Friday or the following Monday. NOT TOO SHABBY!

You have to know what you're ordering but I have no problem with this outfit! If you need some new equipment or have looked at their ads and wondered if they're safe, check them out and you may save a few bucks!

Remember to take the hooks outta yer pocket before ya sit down!
